Biography
Michael B. Coleman b. 1946 Provo, Utah Growing up fishing and hunting, he seemed always to want to be an artist. He majored in fine arts at Brigham Young University and also attended the San Francisco Art Institute. Coleman is known for his landscapes of rich colors in a combination of realistic and more airy styles, often with animals depicted, and a natural harmony between the artist, animal, environment and native peoples. He travels extensively for subject matter, later painting in gouache, oil, or sculpting for bronzes. Awards have been numerous, including an early “retrospective” show in 1978 at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center. paraphrased from AskArt
